The submission deadline has been extended to April 15. Proposals for events that do not fit the panel / paper categories are welcome at hmcluj2024@gmail.com. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out around mid-May.

Guidelines for panels and panelling:

For panels constituted through an open CfP, the panel proposal should be submitted by April 15 through the online form, and the final list of participants by April 30.

If the panel remains incomplete by April 30, the accepted papers will become individual papers.

Organizers will also connect paper submissions into open panels during this time.

Important updates (March 21, 2024)

Leading to the April 1 submission deadline, the conference organizing committee would like to make the following important updates:

1. To better reflect the material circumstances of our region, the updated conference participation fees are:
     Solidarity donations: 150 EUR;
     High-waged: 100 EUR;
     Mid-waged: 50 EUR;
     Low-waged: 20 EUR;
     Unwaged, students, freelancers, and unaffiliated: free.

2. For unwaged, students, freelancers, and unaffiliated participants, free accommodation will be provided in the university dorm/hotel, including breakfast, within the limit of available places.

3. We will provide options for affordable food and refreshments for the duration of the conference, as well as a free meal (lunch or dinner buffet) per day for all conference participants. Updates will follow over the next months.

4. In recognition of the fact that progressive work on the left happens in a variety of forms inside and outside institutions (to which many don’t have access or within which their positions are precarious), we explicitly invite submissions from all producers of knowledge (activists, organizers, cultural workers, artists, writers, translators, editors, journalists, etc.) in a variety of formats. Apart from papers and panels, which can be submitted via the online form, we warmly welcome proposals for roundtables, book launches, debates, workshops, etc. Please send a brief description (300 words) of your planned event, including bios of all participants to: hmcluj2024@gmail.com.
